AKHISAR OLD CITY HALL SQUARE
"Although the cities are made up of buildings & interir spaces and are actually defined by them, urban life is perceived and felt in the streets, the voids and the public spaces outside the buildings. These are the only places we feel together with many people who we do not know."
The lives that happen outside the buildings make up the series of visual urban images, in other words the memory of the city. Sometimes it’s a crack on the building facade, a tree standing there on its own, sometimes a bird nest on top of the electric wire, and sometimes just longing for the old times. A personel ‘punctum’ as mentioned by Roland Barthes perhaps, its cause of yerleşmek in the people’s minds unknown. These urban visual images are the ones that come out of the monotonous sequence of the city and capture us tight. The Former City Hall Square, at this point, defines a pretty fertile situation to say a word about the traces of urban memories.
When looked at from an upper scale, the project site is located at a rather interesting spot. This is a place where the old, historical, small-scaled urban texture touches the new, larger-scaled urban texture; intertwining and coexisting. It’s a place where different scales, different periods of time, different lives and different lifestyles intersect. Here, there has to be a balance between the past and the future. The competition site is described as a multi-potential space defined by the Central Park (P’), the old Cinema (S’), the old School Building (O’), the Mosque (C’) and the Former City Hall Building (B’). Our proposal for this space which contains functions and programs relating to the intersections of these different urban textures, is to create an anological connection with the old images of the surrounding buildings buried in the memory of the city and to outline their relationship with the city by defining their outer public spaces. In this context, the proposed design creates rich urban sections and qualified sequential outdoor spaces by connecting 5 buildings (P,S,O,C,B) which define the void in between.

PARK (P’) AS A MULTI-LAYERED URBAN SPACE
This is a place where the old, historical, small-scaled urban texture touches the new, larger-scaled urban texture; intertwining and coexisting. It’s a place where different scales, different periods of time, different lives and different lifestyles intersect.
Lives spent outside of buildings constitute the visual images of cities, in other words, the memories of the city.
The memory of the city is sometimes a crack in the facade of the building, a tree standing there alone, sometimes a stork's nest in the electric wire, and sometimes a longing for the past ...
The reason it occupies the minds of the citizens is an enigma, a personalized "punctum" as described by Roland Barthes. These images are the totality of those who come out of the ongoing monotonous sequence of the city and catch us tightly.
A city is a scene of memories and memories want to be remembered
FUNCTIONAL DIVERSITY IN THE SQUARE
Our proposal for this space which contains functions and programs relating to the intersections of these different urban textures, is to create an anological connection with the old images of the surrounding buildings buried in the memory of the city and to outline their relationship with the city by defining their outer public spaces. In this context, the proposed design creates rich urban sections and qualified sequential outdoor spaces.
Streets, Squares, Buildings, People are all the enriching elements of this stage
URBAN SCENARIOS
With the spatial interventions to be made in the project area, it will be possible to establish a relationship between the old city texture and the new city scene on a macro scale. As a result, the area will be given a function that can carry this relationship to the urban spaces of the future planned southern parts of the city.

Memory; It is not just about the past, but spatial and imaginary events stored in the past and users are overlapped by associating them with what will be stored now and in the future. This registration is done in the "core" as the seed of the memory.
In this context, the project area has been handled with a macro-scale core approach and the memory seed identity of the city of Akhisar has been given. The old city texture (urban site area) in which the project site is located, the new urban life to the west and the future urban living areas extending to the south highlight the identity of the memory seed.
The planning and spatial intervention proposal to the project area as a memory seed is based on the following principle; there must be a balance between the past and the future here and everywhere.
Urban memory is an endless memory;
endless memory begins by planting a seed.
